Hon. Yusuf Captain Buba
On behalf of myself,my family and, indeed, the good people of Gombi/ Hong Federal Constituency of our dear State, whose kind mandate I currently hold as Member House of Representatives,I wish to felicitate with our Governor,His Excellency,Sen.Mohammed A.Bindo Jubrilla;the Deputy Governor,Engr. Martin Babale;the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly;members of the State Executive Council;Leaders of our great Party, the APC, and, indeed, the elders and the entire good people of our State, on the auspicious occasion of the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the creation of our dear State.
For me, attaining the age of 25 by anyone, whether corporate or individual entity,is no mean achievement. What this means is that for such an entity, mistakes must have been made and personal experiences and lessons learnt must have formed a basis for maturity in character and in outlook. Therefore,it follows that these past twenty-five years, our State and people must have garnered in their commitments the knowledge of how things work and how they do not work.
So, as we celebrate this Silver jubilee of our coming to being as a State within the framework of the geographic entity called Nigeria we must take a moment for sober reflections in order to ponder on the present realities of our State against the hopes and aspirations of our founding fathers. We must sincerely assess where we are ,where we could have been and what we should do to get to where we ought to be. By this way, and only through this, can we properly recapture the essence of our existence as a State.
For me again, we may have our challenges, as other States and people, but with the abundance of both human and natural resources with which God has richly blessed our land, we cannot but succeed. Such success must be anchored on the need to transform leadership vision to the reality of service-delivery and good governance for our people so that the law-abiding citizens in the hills of Gombi,Gembu,Manbilla and in other far-flung parts of our dear State ,would feel a stake in what goes on in Yola and Abuja and appreciate that they have leaders that not only work hard to safeguard their today, but also care for their tomorrow .
We must learn to harness our individual strengths for our collective progress ; knowing full well ,as they say, united we stand and divided we fall.In unity, our individual weaknesses and personal challenges suddenly give way to collective strength. With some of the best brains and hardworking individuals of the Nigerian nation in every field of human endeavours dotting all parts of our dear State in very intimidating numbers, our State cannot but succeed in whatever we place before us to pursue. The only price we need to pay is the price of coming together to agree to succeed. And as we turn 25 ,it is my hope and prayer that we reflect on the foregoing reality to discover that a GREATER ADAMAWA State is still possible in spite of our challenges.
God bless our dear State and people.
Once again, accept my congratulations on this attainment.
