The Training Manuals for Gender-Sensitive Early Warning and Response Strategy was handed over to the State by WANEP CEO. Dr Chukwuemeka Eze and IPCR Head of Gender, Abuja Ms Grace Awodu today at the Closing Ceremony of the 3day Training on Gender Issues.
In a remark by the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Haj. Maisaratu Bello, the Zinariya of Adamawa, commended the efforts and commitment made by all the donor (European Union) and Partners (UN Women, UNICEF, WANEP, IPCR, and UNDP) in ensuring that there is Peace in the Northern parts of the country. Similarly, she commended the Participants for their collective effort in making sure that Adamawa state achieves peace, and peaceful coexistence as intended.
However, she has lamented over recent conflict issues being experienced in the state; “what is happening with us? When we meet in public places like market, offices or hospitals, we pretend to be brothers and sisters but surprisingly, when we go back to our homes within communities, our identities change, why? Who is behind this? Who is sowing seeds of hatred amongst us? What are we going to leave for our children?” She rhetorically asked.
Maisaratu thereafter, tasked all mothers and stakeholders with the responsibility of promoting peace in their various community.
On the other hand, WANEP and IPCR specialists handed over the Training Manuals to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs Hajiya Maisaratu Bello after a short remark by each of them.
The WANEP and IPCR representatives said that the security and peace of Adamawa is in the hands of the trained participants and the Government of the state adding that they have carefully selected some participants to man the system that will be in place in Gender-Sensitive Early Warning and Response Strategy in the state.
