Rape: Adamawa Government Records 8 Instances Of Assault, Convicts 2

The Adamawa State Government has said it recorded eight youngster sexual viciousness cases in the state in 2016.

Mrs Yakubu Tiki, the Director, Child Development, state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, on Saturday disclosed this in an interview with Newsmen in Yola, that it had likewise secured the conviction of two suspects by the state High Court.

Tiki said, “Last year, we received eight cases of child sexual violence in the state and two of the suspects were convicted. These cases were reported to us by our partners and after proper investigation, the ministry filed the cases in court.

She said that the ministry in collaboration with various national and international NGOs, are partnering to ensure that child rights are protected.

As indicated by the executive, the service is expanding attention to secure youngsters against a wide range of misuse.

The ministry partnered with other key ministries, departments and agencies in the state, including the health and education ministries and security agencies, to assist the affected children and their families against stigma and health-related issues.

“Protection against  child abuse is a collective responsibility, hence the need for all stakeholders to join hands for a successful implementation of the Child Rights Act,” Tiki said.

She included that the service had opened tyke advancement workplaces in all the 21 nearby government ranges in the state, while approaching groups to report any youngster mishandle case in their area for vital activity.
