Folks I rarely talk about issues relating to my state for two major reasons. The first reason is I don’t want to be termed as a sycophant if I praise it. secondly it would be out of place to criticize the government in the public domain, because I have unlimited access to the chief Executive of the state His Excellency Senator Bindow being a friend and presently I’m holding temporarily the throne of my forefathers which I must at all times pledge my loyalty to the government and any government of the day. The primary reason why at one breathe I praise the federal government and in another breathe I constructively criticize it in the public domain is because I have no access to the centre to air my views. The only important person at the centre for one to air his views is our friend the SGF Barr Boss Mustapha, but because his voluminous schedules, he is not easily accessible.
Now back to the subject. There is no doubt the Adamawa state Government under the leadership His Senator Bindow in a short period of 3 years has tremendously constructed, reconstructed and rehabilitated the decaying infrastructural facilities and social amenities in the state. On the average, his entire aids have done wonderfully well, but the one that stands up to be noticed clearly in the crowd is the commissioner for Finance Honourable Mahmood Yunusa.
He has not only remarkable improved the internally generated revenue, but has become a pain in the neck of NNPC that has been shortchanging the three tiers of government in the funds accrued to them. Having been appointed as Chairman of commissioners of finance in the 36 states of the federation, he took the job with all the importance, seriousness and urgency it deserves.
Consequently, he painstakingly, meticulously and diligently combed the books of NNPC and discovered a lot of discrepancies where the company has been using the leakages to shortchange the three tiers of governments. Despite all obstacles placed on his path to frustrate this young, energetic, intelligent, indefatigable man not to get the bottom of the infractions, he still soldiered on and his tenacity has now paid off. For the first time in the history of FAAC, it is sharing over N800b, even when oil hit over $120 per barrel during GEJ era, it has not been that rosy. Well done Hon Sali and your colleagues.
One should not fail to commend the president Buhari whose honest charecter is the basis for this success because he set the standard and encouraged transparency, probity and accountability in handling the finances of the federation.
Kudos mr president for entrenching this culture which was our albatross in years gone bye.Do you ever witness news, videos, articles, or photos that you believe it's good and rich for our blog?, or do you have a true life story that you would want us to feature on our blog; Adamawa Celebrities News?
