The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Gazzali Mohammed, has confirmed the arrest of some suspects in connection with Sunday’s attack on four villages of Girei local government area of the state which claimed several lives.
Although he did not disclose the number of suspects arrested, he however confirmed the death of 15 people including a divisional police officer (DPO)and the principal of Government Day Secondary School Koh adding that some soldiers sustained injuries.
Mohammed debunked insinuation making the rounds that the attack was perpetrated by Boko Haram members adding that it was purely an attack by Fulani herdsmen as reprisal over the killing of a 10 year old boy.
An attack on Sunday on four villages of Girei Local Government including Demsare, Koh, Ndikajam, Tabongo villages has resulted in the killing and maiming of residents.
Meanwhile, the state government has condemned the attack saying that it was totally regrettable.The commissioner of information, Mallam Ahmad Sajoh, said the government has summoned an emergency security meeting to discuss the issue with a view to finding a permanent solution to the perennial crisis.
