The statement issued by the Dariqatul Tijjaniyya in Yola Reads:
PRESS STATEMENT BY THE DARIQATUL TIJJANIYYA IN ADAMAWA STATE DISSOCIATING ITSELF FROM THE UN-ISLAMIC PHILOSOPHY AND ACTIVITIES OF THE DISSIDENT HAQIQA FROUP:
The Dariqatul Tijjaniyya in Adamawa state is deeply concerned about the spate of flagrant un-Islamic practices being pioneered by a dissident group called Haqiqah that claims to be from this Dariqah.
All their actions, inactions, preaching and other activities and programs of this dissident group is not only at varience with the established Islamic doctrines enshrined in the Holy Quran and the Hadith, but also run completely counter to the reasonable Ijma or Consensus of opinion by present and past Muslim jurist all over the World.
Thus, we wish to make it categorically clear that the Dariqatul Tijjaniyya is dissociating itself from this group and all their activities and from any other group that moves away from Allah’s injunctions in the Quran and the Prophet’s interpretation in the Hadith should no longer be considered as a Muslim talk-less of sanctifying any criminal instructions into Islam.
It is in this regard that we and any reasonable minded Muslim considers the Haqiqah group as a potential danger to the established conventions of recognized Islamic practices.
The Tijjaniyya movement believes in the sanctity and divinity of the Islamic injunctions regarding the primacy and obligation of the five daily prayers, and other obligations as enshrined in the divine laws which can vividly be seen to be practiced daily in our mosques.
The Tijjaniyya Movement warns all bonafide Muslims who believes in the Holy Quran and the Hadith, to dismiss the poisonous philosophy and campaigns of the so-called group, which seems bent in polluting the mindset of peace-loving Muslim.
The Tijjaniyya Movement appeals to all Muslims Leaders, Communities, Clerics and Scholars all over the World to continue to unite in countering all anti-Islamic gimmicks and sensibilities in other not to escalate the poisonous carrots being dangled by ant-Islamic elements.
The Movement understands the proviso of freedom of worship in the Nigerian Constitution which seeks to allow every Nigerian the right to practice the religion of his choice without hindrance. The threats posed by the haqiqah group is found in the fact that Haqiqah adherents call themselves Muslims, but still go ahead to denounce certain fundamental principles of Islam as provided for in the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW).
At this juncture, we wish to appeal to all Nigerians to continue to live together in Peace and Harmony and be always guided by the spirit of brotherhood as citizens of one united country of different tongues, tribes, and faiths.
We are also appealing to security agencies and paramilitary organizations to be extra-vigilant in taming the emerging excesses of any unusual group, association and/or individuals in order to safeguard the Nation’s peace, Security, and stability.
Similarly, we condemn the sporadic killings taking place in different parts of the country for various motives and to appeal to the conscious of all meaning Nigerians to engage in prayer for the peace and stability of the Nation.
The Khalifah wishes to reiterate the loyalty and support of the Dariqah to all the strata of leadership in the country as well as Government policies and steps taken in ensuring peace, stability, development in all sectors of the economy and taming all forms of violence in various part of the country.
