The representative of PCNI, Nafisa Joda noted the persistent insecurity situation in Madagali due to activities of remnants of insurgents which affected food security in the area.
Joda pledged to take up the matter with the PCNI subcommittee on security to ensure improved security in the area, adding that the committee had allocated largest share of the relief materials to Madagali among other areas.
In his remark, the council chairman of Madagali Local Government in Adamawa, State Mohammed Yusuf called for increased military deployment to curb insurgency attacks by fleeing insurgents moving out of Sambisa forest.
Yusuf said farmers in Madagali could not go to their farms for three years due to continued threat from insurgents operating from surrounding bushes.
“What we need is not food alone, so government should provide us with adequate security especially now that we are approaching farming season” he said.
The PCNI distributed relief materials in Gombi, Hong, Michika and Madagali communities.
