The youths who are selected from the internally displaced persons camps across the state are from Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states.
The skills acquisition centre is equipped with modern heavy and light duty machines for various types of craft ranging from Aluminum fabrication, electrical, Automobile and GSM repairs.
The skills acquisition centre is a boarding facility designed to improve concentration and enhance learning installed with state-of-the-art equipment.
While taking the Governor round the facility the Special adviser to the Governor on poverty eradication and wealth creation Hon. Ayuba Audu said the centre has also conducted training for women on beads making and other household products.
He emphasized that additional containers of training equipment have arrived the state waiting for handing over by the supplier.
Responding, Governor Bindow underscored the importance of skills acquisition and craftsmanship as a sure way to make the youths self reliant, Bindow cautioned the students against unruly behavior but called upon them to concentrate and make the most of the opportunity provided them.
Governor Bindow also thanked the UNDP for their support and called on them to do more for the state so as to empower the youths whose livelihood have been affected by the insurgency.
