The Adamawa State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has on Saturday held it states congress in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, for delegates to elect the members of the State Working Committee (SWC)
The state congress is said to be the grand finale of the internal democracy exercise which started in Adamawa State on Wednesday, with the ward congresses where party members were allowed to choose their leaders.
Speaking at Congress, the National Secretary of ADC, Saidu Baba Abdullahi, announced to a crowd of party stalwarts at the Congress that former Governor Nyako had thrown his weight behind the party.
“We are gathered here with the blessings of the immediate past Governor of the state, Admiral Murtala Nyako,” he said.
“As you can all see, this gathering consists largely of his political structure.”
Serving Senator Abdul-Aziz Nyako, representing Adamawa Central, who dumped the APC for ADC some weeks ago assured the crowd that the ADC was poised to sack the APC in Adamawa State, and also criticized the APC-led government, saying;
“all the signs of a failed state are manifest in this government”.
Senator Abdul-Aziz emphasized that
“Nigeria has become a theatre of killings and we cannot sit to watch the mess continue”.
Some of the state assembly members, led by fiery Rufai Umar; the member representing Gombi Constituency, and a host of other supporters, took front row at the ADC state congress.
Also speaking at the event, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Chief Anayo Arinze said that the national office of the party would continue rendering its support the state chapter of ADC at all time, stressing that
“those in power has never satisfied anyone, so they can not satisfy you now”
All meaningful Nigerians should join hands in conquering the ruling party.ADVERTISEMENT
