Beloved party members who have graciously availed us their presence, other dignitaries here present, Ladies and gentlemen.
I am here to present myself to you and to declare my intention to run for the office of the Executive Governor of Adamawa State under the platform of our great party SDP, the Party of Progress.
My decision to contest for the Governorship of Adamawa State is necessitated by the number of challenges faced by the state at this material time. These include high level of insecurity across the state, poor educational facilities in our institutions of learning, lack of free education, poor rural infrastructural development, poor health facilities in our hospitals, ineffective educational and agricultural policy implementation, provision of good roads, reconstruction of rural and urban areas devastated by insurgency etc.
To achieve these require the sacrifice of all the stake holders that would be involved in the governance of the state.
Democracy is the best system of government that reaches and serves the interest of mighty and small, urban and rural, the haves and the have nots. Democracy if carried out by the rules without bitterness is such an interesting game. In democracy, politics is not a dirty game, except that there are dirty politicians.
Democracy is meant to be fair to all, but when fairness is tilted, small grudges becomes eminent due to actions or in-action of our elected officials who in their own making chose to be selfish instead of providing good governance to humanity. This calls for decency or decent people to present themselves for elective position to provide these social amenities that we are hitherto deprived of largely due to selfishness, lack of innovation and bad governance by the so-called selfish and dirty politicians.
I have found myself suitable as a living sacrifice to be offered for the liberation of Adamawa State from the bondage of underdevelopment bedeviling our state. In the quest to actualize my dream, I will endeavour to bring a balance between the youths and the elders, the executive and the legislature, the executive and the judiciary, the haves and the have not, men and women and between all the religious bodies and ethnic groups in our dear State.
My chairman and party members, today is not a time for long speech, I will reserve some part of my speech until the day set by the party for my declaration rally where I intent to avail to the people of Adamawa State my manifestos.
Please permit me to take you down memory lane; as a young kid growing up in the then Gongola State, I was proud because we were then raised to value ourselves and others irrespective of our ethnic and religious background.
Indeed, we were well cultured where respect for elders was paramount. But today reverse is the case, we are so divided across religious and ethnic line due to the uncultured indoctrination of our youngsters. This raises great concern in the mind of any right thinking citizen of Adamawa State, and that is what I am coming to fight to bring unity amongst the elders and the youths so that development can be achieved with ease.
Finally, I’m soliciting for your support to enable me bring this dream to a reality for the betterment of our State.
Thank you and God bless.
Long live Adamawa State, long live Social Democratic Party, long live Federal Republic of Nigeria.
