Assembly on Tuesday, 26 July 2016 passed a bill to reduce the tenure of local
government councils in the state from two and a half years to two years.
Nigeria (NAN) reports that the bill was passed following the consideration and
adoption of a report on the amendment of the Adamawa State Local Government
System, Establishment and Administration Law No. 4 of 2000.
presented by the House Committee Chairman on Local Government and Chieftaincy
Affairs, Alhaji Muhammadu Hayatu (APC-Uba/Gaya), who said the bill was in order
as most states were operating two-year tenure.
The bill was sponsored by Alhaji Suleiman Alkali (APC-Yola North).

the house to review the deduction of councils’ monthly allocation to enable
them to perform within two years.
