The lawmakers on deliberation directed it suspended member, Hon Abubakar Abdulrahman (APC-Mubi South) to continue to keep off from the house pending the determination of the cases he instituted against the assembly.
Abdulrahman has instituted two cases against the house before a Yola High Court challenging his suspension and February 18 has been fixed for judgement on one of the cases.
The House Committee chairman on Information, Hon Hassan Barguma, who spoke to newsmen on Abdulrahman’s fate, said though the three months suspension without benefit slammed on Abdulrahaman has lapsed, he would not be allowed to return since he has a case against the house in court that must be determined.
“He took us to court, he took us to EFCC; status quo has to be maintain until the determination of the cases”, Barguma said.
He however noted that if Abdulrahman withdrew his court cases against the house and apologized, the house would consider accepting him back.
Commenting on the development, Abdulrahman said the house was not fair to him for taking that position.
He added that the House must not call him to return sitting, he can only return to perform his Normal legislative duties they don’t have the right to discuss the case he instituted against the House at the plenary.
The embattled member said he will return to sitting any moment from now as his three months suspension has ended and his decision to go to court was to determine whether his three months suspension without benefit was proper.
