NDE Training 2,500 IDPs in Yola

In line with the present Administration’s desire to provide employment opportunities especially to the teeming unemployed youths across the country, particularly those that are affected as a result of the insurgency activities, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) is currently training about two thousand five hundred internally displaced persons in Adamawa State.

This was disclosed by the State Acting Coordinator of NDE Mr. Keneth Maigida during an exclusive interview with The Scope correspondent in his office recently.

Mr. Keneth Maigida revealed that the two thousand five hundred IDPs who are currently undergoing training in various IDPs camps in the State when completed will specialized in various skills and become economically dependent of themselves instead of looking up to government or private individuals.

He maintained that the IDPs trainees were divided into various segments, such as small scale enterprises, rural employment promotion, as well as special works  among others.

While appreciating the efforts of both the Federal and Adamawa State Government as well as some of the development partners for their support,  Mr. Keneth Maigida however said that the IDPs training are currently located in Fufore, Malkohi in Yola South Local Government Area as well as other locations such as the worship centers.

While appreciating the level of response of the IDPs towards the training programme he described it as both wonderful and fantastic, Mr. Keneth Maigida however appealed to the IDPs to reciprocate government gesture by wholly embracing the training.

Commeting on the current challenges faced by the organization in the States Mr. Keneth however said that just like any other government establishment in the country, the National Directorate of Employment in Adamawa State is faced with numerous challenges ranging from insufficient funds, shortage of manpower, logistics problems among other things and appealed for urgent government intervention, stressing that Adamawa State is one of the States that is gravely affected by  the insurgency.
