ADHA majority leader, 2 others Honored with Traditional Titles

History was made last week when the District Head of Hong in Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State Alh. Umar Babangida Mahmud bestowed on the Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Hassan Barguma (Hong constituency) the new traditional title of Makama Hong.

Other illustrious sons of Hong turbaned alongside the Majority Leader are; the current chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Adamawa State Chapter, Comrade Dauda Maina as Marafa Hong and the former Assistant Director with the National Agency for Good and Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC), Alh. Nurudeen Usman Audu as Garkuwa Hong respectively.

The event which attracted prominent personalities within and outside the State including Governor Muhammad Umar Jibrilla who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Buba Bindir, the Speaker of the House of Assembly Hon. Kabiru Mijinyawa, state lawmakers, National Assembly members, commissioners, permanent secretaries, APC State and LG leadership among other sons and daughters and well-wishers was held at the palace of the District Head.

Speaking while performing the turbaning ceremony, the District Head of Hong, Alh. Umar Babangida Mahmud told the crowd that the traditional institution found it necessary to reward the celebrants with the traditional titles due to their positive contributions to the development of Hong, the State and the nation in general.

The Royal father disclosed that those turbaned had endeared themselves in the hearts of not only the good people of Hong but the State and nation in general hence the resolve of the traditional council to recognize as well as honour them with the prestigious titles.

In his remarks the Chairman of the occasion who is also the Director General State Agency for Museum and Monuments, Alh. Saidu Audu, said that the decision to bestow traditional titles to the Kilba sons has come at the right time, urging on the other sons and daughters of the district to strive and leave no stone unturned to qualify for traditional titles in their home land.

Alh. Audu congratulated the celebrants for their well-deserved appointments under the district head whom he described as their enviable traditional leader, appreciating him for his choice of the illustrious sons of the land for the traditional titles.
Responding on behalf of the celebrants, the new Makama Hong, Hon. Hassan Barguma (Hong constituency ADHA) thanked the Lamido Adamawa Alh. Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa and the entire emirate council for finding them worthy to hold such offices.

Hon. Barguma equally appreciated the District Head of Hong for identifying them among other important sons and daughters of their land for the appointment. Saying that they were pleased and honoured to be part of his traditional leadership team.

The lawmaker pledged their unalloyed loyalty and commitment to participate in all activities aimed at making the community pass challenges of development especially in the areas of security, farming and sustenance of their traditional culture.
