Radio Polaaku Commissioned in Style

The first Fulbe radio station broadcasting under frequency modulation of 92.3hz in Yola, the Adamawa State capital was commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB). The radio was established by Lamido Adamawa Dr. Muhammad Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa for promoting the good cultural heritage of Fulbe to ensure peace and peaceful coexistence between the Fulbe and non Fulbe ethnic groups in the State.

The commissioning took place at the radio station premises at Mbamba in Yola the seat of the Adamawa Emirate over the weekend. Dignataries from in and outside the country were present more especially Fulbe from the neigbouring countries.

Delivering his speech during the events President Muhammadu Buhari represented by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alh. Lai Mohammed urged media practitioners in the country to support the Federal Government in its fight against the insurgents which are decimented, reducing their strength from attackers to merely defending themselves.

President Buhari also called on the media to assist in deradicalization process of changing the mentality of people who are tricked believing the insurgents, bad ideology. Adding that media has a very big role to play in creating awareness for people to be more security conscious and understand security is everybody’s business.

The Ministry used the forum to commensurate with government and people of Adamawa State over the two tragic incidents of recent Mubi bomb blast and the Numan killings. Calling on the security agencies to be more proactive in maintaining peace and order.

Speaking Governor Bindow while congratulating Lamido for establishing the radio, advised to use the radio station in promoting peace and unity among the people. Calling on the station to maintain professionalism and operate within the ethicsof Journalism.

The Sultan of Sokoto, alh. Sa'ad Abubakar III represented by the Emir of Kano, Alh. Muhammadu Sanusi II used the forum to make a case for the government and security outfits to do everything possible to bring the perpetrators of the massacre in Numan and Gembu to face the full wrath of the law.
The Emir said “May I use this opportunity to commensurate with the people of Adamawa State and His Excellency the Governor on the recent incidence in Numan and to appeal to security services to make thorough investigation to this incidents and bring the perpetrators to book, may I also said that we have not forgotten what happened to the Fulani in Mambilla and we are still waiting for action from the security services, I hope that what happened in Mambilla and what happened in Numan would not go unpunished”.
While congratulating Lamido for achieving his goal in establishing the station, the Emir of Kano said the station would serve as a key to development and promotion of Fulfulde language Pulaaku norms and values.

Earlier, Lamido Adamawa Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa in his speech, revealed that the main reason for establishing the radio station was to promote and project the Fulbe culture and to encourage peace and peaceful coexistence with other tribes. He noted that the station would help in setting the people’s thinking and talking for development and for participation in the government activities for ultimate development.

Both the Board of Trustee Chairman, the Emir of Mubi Alh. Abubakar Isa Ahmadu and the Board of Directors, the Kaigama Adamawa Professor Umar Pate congratulated the Lamido for establishing the radio station. Prof. Pate attested that the radio would promote cultural heritage of the Fulbe and will forge understanding and unity amongst the people of the Fombina kingdom.

Highlight of the events include the presentation of award of excellence to Governor Bindow, Lamido and the Chairman Fufore Local Government.
