The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says it has revealed new techniques for smuggling rice at the borders of Mubi in Adamawa.

The Adamawa/Taraba Area Comptroller of the Service, Mr Adetoye Francis, said this while investigating a tipper lorry truck and two tricycles stacked with suspected pirated rice in Mubi town on Wednesday.

Francis cautioned smugglers that the service under the present administration has zero resilience for any demonstration of economic sabotage.

He said that the order had distinguished new ways smugglers received to lead their accursed exercises, for example, utilizing tipper lorries conveying sand with sacks of rice underneath the sand trying to betray custom authorities.

“They (smugglers) are using the cover of on-going construction work going on in Mubi by using tippers meant for conveying sand for smuggling by covering the items with sand.
