Commissioner information and strategy tasks PCNI on Peace, Dev

Following the recent inauguration of presidential committee on North East Initiative, the Adamawa state Commissioner for Information and Strategy Comrade Ahmad Sajoh has enjoined the committee to swing into tangible action so as to restore peace and development in Adamawa State.

The Commissioner made the call at a one Day interactive dialogue on peace, justice and accountability in the North East with local actors and civil society organizations in Adamawa state.

The forum was organized by the Centre for Democracy and Development in collaboration with Presidential Committee on North East Initiative and Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola to draw up framework of ensuring peace and reconciliation in the North East.

Comrade Sajoh pledged the state government support in the implementation of durable and lasting solution to crisis in the state, noting that while the insurgency lasts, some Internally Displaced Persons who were hitherto illiterate have become literate while many have owned houses and other properties.

Comrade Sajoh who stressed the need for enforcement of social justice and equity as well as fast tracking polices, decried the attitude of profiling, describing it as fatal and destructive to peace and development.

In their separate remarks, the Director General, Centre for democracy and development Idayat Hassan and vice chancellor Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola, Professor Mohammed Kyari, said the dialogue was aimed at generating framework to bringing peace and reconciliation in the North East.

The speakers who were represented by Musa Shallangwa and Gambo Matudi respectively enjoined the participants to proffer tangible solutions to the challenges abound in the region as a result of the insurgency.
